Lara Stone’s Blackface by Steven Klein, French Vogue
The ever controversial French Vogue lives up to its reputation in the October 2009 issue with an eye-popping collaboration with Steven Klein. The controversy is not about the usual sex and violence, but about race. Klein’s favorite model of the moment, Lare Stone, was transformed into a black woman with black-face & styling by Carine Roitfeld. This is not Klein’s first time with black-face, he’s done it a couple of times before in Vogue Italia (February 2006 & March 2004). But for some reason, this time it’s causing a stir.
I personally find the editorial extremely thought-provoking. Take for example the below ‘cracked paint’ image. Are we all black on the inside? Are black people trying to look white? Are white people trying to be black? Does the color of the skin really matter? Or maybe Klein is simply a fan of Mad Men, which pulled a black-face stunt in a recent episode.

Look out for more upcoming styles from Supra and a full spread in December.

David Gandy by Mariano Vivanco, Massimo Dutti F/W 2010
David Gandy, a true living legend to whom many models must pay homage too. The should also instantly remind you of his iconic Docle & Gabbana underwear shoot & video with grand photographer Mario Vivanco. The two are brought together once again in the new Fall/Winter 2010 ad campaign & look-book for Spanish brand Massimo Dutti.
Mariano Vivanco shot Gandy & Edita Vilkeviciute in Madrid, and even though they are both fully dressed, the results are just as intimate and sensual as that underwear shoot.

Sexy Ladies Of 'Nine' Do Vogue
The latest cover features Nicole Kidman, Marion Cotillard, Penelope Cruz and KateHudson, who are staring in a splashy movie-musical called Fellini's 8 1/2. 8 1/2 is probably the most potent movie about film-making, within which fantasy and reality are mixed without obfuscation, and there's a tough argument that belies Fellini's usual felicitous flaccidity. While the film stars Daniel Day Lewis in the main role of Guido, it's easy to get distracted by the gorgeous cast of ladies, all of whom lent their aesthetic talents to this lush photo shoot and interview for Vogue.

Tyson Ballou & Daphne Guinness by Steven Klein
"an editorial spread should have a dialogue about fashion..." and top model Tyson Ballou who stars as a rather solemn lover boy that gets disciplined on the hands of Daphne Guinness in the new October 2009 issue of Vogue Italia tells that story. From the miserable vibe to the fantastic fashion. The photography is by Steven Klein.
